The Malta Social Work Profession Board, whose functions include the examination of applications for a warrant to practice the profession of social work in Malta and the recommendation to the minister on the award or refusal of warrants, has issued a call for applications for social work warrants.
Applications for a social work warrant may be collected from the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity, Palazzo Ferreria, Republic Street, Valletta, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 2 to 3.30 p.m. or downloaded from the ministry's website. Any enquiries can be made on the same days and times.
The completion of the application must be carried out rigorously giving particular attention to the documents that need to be presented with the application to facilitate its processing.
Applications may be submitted to the board's secretary, Carmen Cocks, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. at the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity.
Applications from those persons as described in clause 19(3) of the law - persons who have been engaged in social work on a professional basis and whose such work was their main occupation during the 10 years prior to June 1, 2004 - will be received until the end of this month.
Next month the board shall receive applications from supervisors - persons who, as part of their job, are engaged in the supervision of other social workers.
In April, the board shall receive applications from all other social workers whose surnames start with the letters A to F while in May it shall receive applications from those whose surnames start with the letters G to Z.
Every application is subject to a fee of Lm10.
