Labour leader Alfred Sant said yesterday the Labour Party wanted to express its solidarity with Maltese and Gozitan farmers who are currently facing problems that are threatening their livelihood.

Visiting the agricultural exhibition at Buskett on the occasion of the feast of Mnarja, Dr Sant said the MLP would be supporting part-time and full-time farmers and work with all agricultural lobbies to ensure a future for agriculture in Malta.

Dr Sant said there should be a national programme for the environment which would benefit farmers and their families, who have always contributed to the economy.
