A man who was accused of threatening and slightly injuring his father last Tuesday has been granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €1,500.

Jonathan Calleja, 27, of Birkirkara, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police inspector Bernard Spiteri said that the son had a long standing argument with his father which reached a head on Tuesday. The father was very scared of his son because he had threatened to kill him a number of times before.

Taking into consideration that the two lived in different localities, Magistrate Audrey Demicoli granted the son bail.
