Song festival numbers selected

Entries for Malta's Song for Europe contest, to be held on February 4, have been shortlisted to 16, the Maltasong committee said.

In all, 18 songs will performed in the February 4 festival, with the remaining two places being filled by songs chosen during the televised talent show Opportunity 2.

Since three singers - Olivia Lewis, Nadine Axisa and Pamela Bezzina - have had two songs each chosen, the composer has either to give up the song with the lower score or hand it over to another singer.

These three songs are High Alert, Amazing and Turn Another Page. If they are withdrawn, the next song in line will be added to the list. If the song is handed over to another singer, a new recording with adjusted key has to be produced by not later than January 3.
