Msida gets a temporary open space for feast amid flyover project works

The space will eventually become the town square

A new open space in front of Msida parish church has been temporarily opened for residents to enjoy the town's feast this week.

Infrastructure Malta said the space will eventually become a square at the core of the Msida Creek project.

Minister Chris Bonett visited the site and said arrangements for its opening had been made after consultations with residents and associations of the locality.

He said a temporary location had also been made available for the traditional  Ġostra (greasy pole) until a permanent location is completed.

During his visit Bonett was also shown works on a new bridge linking Ta’ Xbiex to Pietà. A canal is being dug beneath this bridge to take stormwater and avert flooding.

Workers recently also installed the longest span of the new flyover to the Regional Road.

Speaking in parliament last week Bonett said he was very pleased with the progress of work and the temporary traffic arrangements.
