The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anton Tabone will be participating in a programme for the Speakers of the EU Candidate Countries, which is running parallel to a conference for the Speakers of parliaments of EU member states, being held in Madrid between today and Sunday.

The agenda includes discussions on the themes "National Parliaments and the Future of Europe", and "National Parliaments in the European Institutional Framework".

The conference is being hosted by the president of the Spanish senate, Esperanza Aguirre Gil de Biedma, as well as the president of the Spanish congress of deputies, Luisa Fernanda Rudi Ubeda, on behalf of the Cortes, and includes an audience for Speakers with King Juan Carlos.
