The Transport Authority has neither bought nor installed any speed cameras on close-circuit TV facilities on roads and at road junctions. According to the Motor Vehicle Regulations the police and wardens were responsible for supervising vehicle speeds, Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett said in reply to a parliamentary question.

He said the authority had bought a speed gun which registered a vehicle's speed but not the vehicle number. The gun was used in road design and in the drawing up of traffic management measures.

The minister was replying to a parliamentary question by Charles Buhagiar (MLP).
