A considerable amount of spirits and cigarettes, on which excise duty had not been paid and which were meant for sale, were impounded by the anti-economic crimes unit, the police said yesterday. The spirits and cigarettes were found in various locations around Malta after days of observation, the police added.

A number of persons are expected to be arraigned in the coming days in connection with this case.
