The MSC Splendida is now nearing completion, and is to be launched and christened in Barcelona on July 12. It will call at Malta for the first time on her maiden voyage three days after being launched - on July 15 - and will continue to enter Malta every Wednesday up to November 11.

The Splendida is the twin sister of MSC Fantasia, the largest ship ever commissioned by a European cruise company (MSC Crociere) and without a question the most luxurious, which was launched in December 2008.

Cruising the heart of the Mediterranean and the adjacent European Atlantic seaboard, MSC Splendida will be embarking on a series of inspiring itineraries to many of history's most famous sites, including Alexandria, Ashdod, Athens, Barcelona, Casablanca, Crete, Genoa, Madeira, Malta, Malaga, Naples, Olympia, Rhodes, Rome, Taormina, Tenerife and Tunis.

MSC Splendida's interiors will complement these famous sites of history perfectly, with exuberant modern and classically refined Italian designs featuring many natural and traditional materials - a theme and lineage reflected in L'Olivo restaurant, specialising in the cuisine of the Mediterranean from Couscous to Paella.

MSC Crociere currently has the most modern fleet in the world with nine ships, MSC Fantasia, MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra, MSC Musica, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Armonia, MSC Opera, MSC Lirica and MSC Melody, cruising in the Mediterranean all year round, Northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, North and South America, the Indian Ocean and South Africa. MSC Magnifica will be launched in 2010. MSC Crociere is the only company to have received the "6 Golden Pearls" award from the Bureau Veritas in recognition of its high level of quality management and environmental protection.

Hamilton Travel is the exclusive general sales agents of all MSC Crociere's cruise liners and will be embarking 4,000 Maltese and Gozitan passengers on the MSC Splendida this summer. Hamilton Travel is also responsible for organising shore excursions for all passengers on board while the ship is in Malta every Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. MSC Splendida's itinerary is Malta - Messina - Taormina - Civitavecchia - Rome - Genova - Rapallo - Portofino - Marseilles - Aix en Provence - Barcelona - Tunisia - Malta.
