In Scotland: Inverness Caledonian Thistle ended their brief tenure at Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium with a 2-0 defeat by Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier League yesterday. The Highland club, who return to their Caley Stadium later this month after the SPL relaxed its 10,000 all-seater ruling, were beaten by Danny Invincibile's double in the final 12 minutes which moved Kilmarnock to within two points of sixth placed Hearts. Elsewhere, former England defender Terry Butcher's Motherwell held fourth-placed Aberdeen to a 0-0 draw at Fir Park. Aberdeen set this season's new record of 323 minutes without scoring a goal.

Maccarone: Striker Massimo Maccarone, 25, has changed club in the Serie A after Siena signed the player on loan for the remainder of the season yesterday. Maccarone, who moved to Parma last summer following two disappointing seasons at Middlesbrough, has now joined a side desperate for goals. Alongside Atalanta, they have scored just 11 times in 16 games - the lowest in the league.

Macho: Kaiserslautern have signed former Chelsea goalkeeper Jurgen Macho on a free transfer. The Austria international has most recently been with Rapid Vienna in his homeland after cancelling his contract with Chelsea back in August. Macho failed to settle with Rapid and has now accepted the offer of a switch to the Bundesliga with Kaiserslautern.

Rallying: American Robby Gordon regained the overall lead in the Dakar Rally after winning the 123-km special stage between Rabat and Agadir in yesterday's fourth leg.
