Fake deal: Steaua Bucharest owner Gigi Becali said coach Cosmin Olaroiu signed a fake contract in front of TV cameras last week. "It was a bluff aimed to give peace to my players and the coach," Becali told reporters. "The document we signed was an old contract. We (Becali and Olaroiu) don't need a new written contract between us... he will be Steaua's coach until 2010 because I say he will."

False accounting: Former French soccer chairman Claude Simonet was given a six-month suspended jail term and fined 10,000 euros yesterday for false accounting. Simonet and ex-French Soccer Federation (FFF) treasurer Bernard Bacourt were both found guilty in a Paris court, with Bacourt given a three-month suspended sentence and a 5,000 euro fine. Simonet, who was chairman of the FFF from 1994 to 2005, was cleared of obstructing an audit of the federation.

Reading: English Premier League side Reading have signed defender Andre Bikey permanently from Lokomotiv Moscow for a fee in excess of one million pounds, the club said. The Cameroon international, 22, has signed a three-year contract. He joined the Royals on loan from the Russian club at the start of the season.

Points docked: Bosnian title hopefuls Zrinjski Mostar had two points deducted and their coach Blaz Sliskovic fined yesterday after the team walked off the pitch during a premier league match with Orasje last week. The competition commission registered a 3-0 result for Orasje and fined Sliskovic 2,500 Bosnian marka ($1,400) for ordering the team off because of what he called "scandalous refereeing". It also suspended Zrinjski President Ivan Beus for a year and fined him 2,500 marka.

Portsmouth: Portsmouth will unveil plans for their new stadium today as they seek to move away from Fratton Park, their home since 1899. No details have been publicly released and it is believed the club still have to seek planning permission, but the relocation appears to be heading for Ministry of Defence-owned land on the edge of the city. Pompey, whose current, stadium can only house just over 20,000 fans, are looking to build a new 36,000 all-seater facility.

Capello: Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has reiterated his faith in coach Fabio Capello and denied claims he has held talks with possible successors to the Italian. Real have endured a troubled season, but it may still have a positive outcome with the club just two points behind Primera Liga leaders Barcelona with seven games to go. "Capello has a contract and is a great coach in my eyes. He was the man we needed," he said.
