Reid: Sunderland signed Ireland international midfielder Andy Reid from Championship side Charlton Athletic on Thursday in a deal worth up to four million pounds. The 25-year-old is manager Roy Keane's fifth January signing as he bolsters his squad in a bid to stay out of relegation trouble. Reid has signed a 3-1/2 year contract.

Rasiak: Bolton Wanderers have signed Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak on loan from Championship side Southampton until the end of the season, the Premier League club said. The 29-year-old, capped 37 times for Poland, will attempt to fill the gap left by the sale of Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea earlier this month as Bolton battle to stay in the top flight.

Caicedo: Ecuador international Felipe Caicedo has signed a 4-1/2 year contract with Manchester City, his agent Saif Rubie told Sky Sports News. The 19-year-old joined from Swiss club FC Basel for a fee of around five million pounds after being granted a work permit.

Torino: Torino have signed Italy midfielder Aimo Diana on a three-year deal from Palermo. The Turin strugglers have also loaned Marco Pisano from the Sicilians.

Buffon: Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will miss his third game in a row with a bad back when Juventus host Cagliari on Sunday, the club said. He looks very doubtful for Italy's friendly with Portugal in Zurich next Wednesday with Juve saying he is aiming to be fit for the Udinese game on Feb. 10.

Makinwa: Reggina have signed Nigeria striker Stephen Makinwa on loan from Lazio, the struggling Serie A club said.

Brechin: Brechin City have been thrown out of the Scottish Cup for fielding two ineligible players, the Scottish FA said. The third tier side were due to play Aberdeen in the last 16 on Saturday but instead the Premier League club will now face Hamilton, the team Brechin beat in the fourth round.

Napoli: Napoli have signed 25-year-old Fiorentina midfielder Michele Pazienza on a four-year contract, the Serie A club said.

Dabo: Manchester City's French midfielder Ousmane Dabo has returned to Lazio, the English Premier League club said. Dabo, 30, joined City from the Italian side in June 2006 but has made just 18 appearances.

Carroll: Rangers goalkeeper Roy Carroll has signed for Derby County until the end of the season. "It has been a protracted deal but I believe it will be worth the wait because Roy is a great pro," Derby manager Paul Jewell said.
