Bilic: Croatia coach Slaven Bilic will stay on after the Euro 2008 finals, Croatian FA chief Vlatko Markovic was quoted as saying. "Bilic is likely to be offered a different salary, but he will remain with us after Euro 2008," Markovic told the Jutarnji List daily.
Oleguer: Barcelona defender Oleguer will miss both legs of his side's Champions League last 16 tie against Celtic after breaking a bone in his left hand during his side's 1-1 draw at Sevilla on Saturday. The club said that the right back was expected to be out of action for around six weeks.
Robinho: Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Robinho is likely to miss the first leg of his side's Champions League last 16 tie at Roma because of a torn stomach muscle. Real, who play Roma on Feb. 19, said that the winger would be out of action for between 10 and 15 days. The 24-year-old, one of Real's stand-out players this season, sustained the injury in the opening minutes of his side's 7-0 thrashing of Valladolid at the Bernabeu on Sunday.
Simeone: River Plate made a winning start to the Clausura championship under new coach Diego Simeone with a solid 2-0 victory over Gimnasia-Jujuy on Sunday. Midfielder Matias Abelairas found the net with an angled free kick early in the second half and Paulo Ferrari added the second with a sharp header from a corner by Ariel Ortega. Simeone has replaced Daniel Passarella, who quit in November after River were knocked out of the Copa Sudamericana.
