Yobo: Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo is set to be offered a new contract by Premier League club Everton. Manager David Moyes admitted his desire to keep the Nigerian international and Yobo's agent John Shittu has revealed a deal is close to being agreed. "Joe loves Everton and he is happy at the club so the negotiations have been straightforward," Shittu said.
O'Neill: Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has dismissed reports he has bid for Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe. The Irish coach is keen to strengthen his squad next month but stressed he has not yet made any offers to clubs for players. "We have not enquired about any player at the moment, and that includes Defoe, so this idea we have bid zillions for some particular player is simply untrue," he said.
Suazo: David Suazo is being tipped to a move to the English Premier League after his loan spell at Benfica is coming to an end. The Honduran international was loaned out by Inter in the summer and is unlikely to return to the Serie A club after a poor showing in his first season at the San Siro. Newcastle, Aston Villa and Everton are all reportedly interested in landing Suazo till at least the end of the season.
Olsen: Valencia have agreed a deal to sign Dag Alexander Olsen from Tottenham Hotspur. Olsen has spent two years at White Hart Lane, but the Norwegian has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League club. His contract expires at the end of the season and the striker has now accepted a move to Spain with Valencia.
Fontana: Palermo goalkeeper Alberto Fontana is on the verge of rescinding his contract with the the Serie A club. The 41-year-old was a regular starter with the Sicilians until the arrival of Italy goalkeeper Marco Amelia last summer. He has started just four games all season.
