Mosquera: Spanish first division side Sevilla said they had sold their Colombian defender Aquivaldo Mosquera to Mexican club America. The club did not disclose the amount of the transfer fee but Spanish media said it was around four million euros. The 28-year-old joined Sevilla two seasons ago for eight million euros.

Belluschi: Porto have agreed a deal to buy Olympiakos's Argentine midfielder Fernando Belluschi. Porto said the 25-year old has signed a four-year contract. Belluschi joined Olympiakos from River Plate in January 2008 and went on to appear 34 times and score eight goals for the Greek club.

Closed doors: FC Zurich and Basel have each been ordered to play a home game behind closed doors following crowd trouble at a match between the teams in May. FC Zurich, the home side, were also ordered to pay a fine of $73,600 following the incidents at the match on May 17. Zurich lost 3-1 but went on to clinch the title by winning their final two games.

Birmingham: Ecuador striker Christian Benitez has completed his move from Mexican club Santos Laguna to Premier League side Birmingham City, the club said yesterday. Birmingham, back in England's top flight, said the 23-year-old was joining for a club transfer record fee which could rise to 7.7 million pounds ($12.5 million).

Foster: Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2013. Foster, 26, who has won two England caps, has been hampered by injury throughout his career and missed the end of last season after needing surgery on a ruptured ligament in his right thumb. "Ben is seen as one of the best young goalkeepers in England and we genuinely see him as a successor to Edwin van der Sar," United manager Alex Ferguson told the club's website.

Commonwealth Games: India has allotted $717 million over the next year to finish projects for the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said. The amount is a sharp increase from the $436.4 million initially allotted for the period until March end next year.

Winter Games: Washington Capitals left-wing Alexander Ovechkin has been chosen as an official ambassador to the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Ovechkin, 23, is widely considered as the world's best player after being voted the NHL's Most Valuable Player last month for the second year in a row. He is expected to lead Russia at the 2010 Olympic ice hockey tournament in Vancouver.

Athletics: Triple Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt will run in the 4x100 relay as well as the individual 100m at the London Grand Prix later this month. Bolt was part of the Jamaican team that broke the sprint relay world record in Beijing and will be running in his first relay in Britain. The Jamaican had already signed up for the individual 100m, on July 24, and will race the relay on the following day of the two-day event.
