Toilet seat theft: Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson has been fined by police for trying to steal a toilet seat and bath taps from a store, according to reports yesterday. Johnson, on loan from Chelsea, tried to smuggle the bathroom accessories out of a B & Q home improvement store with the help of Millwall striker Ben May on Wednesday.

Bolivia Tragedy: Bolivian officials will launch an investigation after one woman was killed and 20 people injured in a crush at the Hernando Siles stadium on Thursday. The Bolivian state news agency ABI said a 35-year-old woman was crushed as several hundred fans tried to get into the stadium after a match between local rivals Bolivar and The Strongest had already begun. ABI said several children were among the injured.

In Poland: Poland suspended the leadership of its national football association yesterday after another high-ranking official was detained in a match-fixing investigation that stretches back almost two years. Prosecutors in the southern city of Wroclaw detained Wit Zelasko, FA board member responsible for referees and a well-known TV personality, bringing the total number accused in the scandal to about 60.

Real Madrid have been fined and threatened with stadium closure by the Spanish Football Federation after objects were thrown on the pitch in the King's Cup tie against Real Betis, Spanish media reported yesterday. A linesman was struck on the arm by a plastic bottle while other objects, including a mobile phone, landed near the touchline and the Betis goal in the closing stages of Thursday's game. Betis reached the quarter-finals on the away goals rule after drawing the second leg at the Bernabeu 1-1.
