Kahn: Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is ready to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich running until 2008, German media reported yesterday. "I feel too good to leave," the 36-year-old told Munich's tz newspaper in an interview to be published today. "I'm signing on to 2008." Kahn joined Bayern back in July 1994. His current contract is due to expire at the end of the season. Bild newspaper quoted Bayern coach Felix Magath as welcoming Kahn's decision to stay. "That's great news," Magath said. "Olli is in fantastic form. Kahn stands for stability and continuity and at his age he can still play at a high level."

Bundesliga: Werder Bremen and Hamburg SV played out a poor quality 1-1 draw yesterday, providing the best possible result for Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich. A free-kick from Johan Micoud drifted in at the far post to give third-placed Bremen the lead at the end of the first half. Second-placed Hamburg equalised when Mustafa Kucukovic tapped in with 23 minutes to go. Hertha Berlin snatched a 1-1 draw at home to Nuremberg in yesterday's other game. The Bundesliga resumes after a six-week break on January 27.

Ronaldo: Ronaldo has dismissed suggestions that he wants to return to Inter and says the only way he will leave Real Madrid is if the club decide to get rid of him. "I don't want to leave Real Madrid," the Brazil striker told sports daily AS. "I want to stay at this club for many years to come and I want to win a lot of trophies here." Italian daily Tuttosport reported last week that Real and Inter were planning to do a swap deal involving Ronaldo and fellow Brazilian Adriano. "I will only leave Madrid when they decide to get rid of me and I hope that doesn't happen," Ronaldo said.

Defoe: Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe looks like missing the busy Christmas period after injuring his ankle in the 3-3 Premier League draw with Middlesbrough yesterday. Defoe, who has slipped behind Liverpool's Peter Crouch in the England pecking order, turned his ankle in the closing minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute. "Jermain will probably be out for two weeks," Tottenham coach Martin Jol told the BBC. Defoe has found himself relegated to the bench in recent weeks, Jol preferring Ireland international Robbie Keane up front alongside Egypt striker Mido.
