All is set for the 50-hour football and 50-hour sailing marathons being organised this weekend by the Centru Rikreazzjoni Zghazagh of Zurrieq to raise funds for Life Cycle and the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, and the Vikings Sailing Club in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Group respectively.
The football marathon, sponsored by the HSBC's Zurrieq branch, kicks off at the Zurrieq primary school today at 7 p.m. The event will also include entertainment and is expected to come to a close on Sunday at 9 p.m.
Donations of Lm1, Lm3 and Lm5 can be sent via SMS on 5061 7362, 5061 8917 and 5061 9207 respectively.
Further details can be obtained by calling 7964 9785.
The 50-hour marathon organised by the Viking Sailing Club at Haywharf in Marsamxett harbour starts at 5 p.m.
Youngsters Nicky Sammut and Darren Cauchi intend spending the 50 hours sailing in a Topper dinghy. Darren, 16, had taken part in the club's first marathon last year, when it raised Lm1,000 for the Ursuline Crèche.
During the marathon, visitors to Haywharf can join qualified members on 30-minute sailings against a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Group.
The marathon ends on Sunday at 7 p.m.
