Sports organisations last year benefitted from a total €3.3 million in assistance by the sport council.

Speaking at a business breakfast yesterday, Sport Parliamentary Secretary Clyde Puli said this figure excluded the running costs and capital investment in sport facilities as well as sponsorship by both government and private organisations.

Through this money, Mr Puli said, organisations were in a position to improve the quality of their sport and continue with more professional training.
