South Korea-based automobile manufactures, SsangYong, attended the 89th Geneva International Motor Show earlier this month, where it unveiled its highly anticipated new SUV model, the SsangYong Korando.

The Geneva International Motor Show is highly regarded as one of the most influential events on the global car show circuit, boasting a rich history of showing automobile developments since its inception in 1905.

Maturing from its humble beginnings, the annual event has risen to become an extremely popular motor show, praised as one of the five ‘majors’ recognised by the International Organisation of Automobile Constructors (OICA).

The show’s impact is now felt tenfold within the automobile industry. In this year alone, hundreds of thousands of professionals, as well as guests, attended the seven halls of Palexpo in Geneva, where they were able to view 220 exhibitions, meet with designers and equipment suppliers and attend presentations of around 900 vehicles, all in a matter of days.

Due to its prominent standing, the Geneva Motor Show has long been the manufacturers’ preferred location to exhibit their latest vehicle models and designs, where a keen-attending audience are often the first public members to witness and enjoy these creations. SsangYong Motors Ltd instantly took to this practice, proudly unveiling its highly anticipated 2019 Korando SUV model.

Under the management of Mahindra & Mahindra, SsangYong Motors Ltd has seen substation development and improvement. The new next-gen Korando model boldly accentuates the progress achieved by both companies over the past few years.

The SUV features an excitingly rugged and fresh exterior design. Prominent features such as a front grille and slick headlight design serve to complement the vehicle’s fierce natural aesthetic. SsangYong has confirmed that this new model will offer drivers greater practicality, through a longer wheelbase, passengers will enjoy a greater internal area within the car as well as a larger load space within the vehicle’s rear.

A Maltese delegation consisting of SsangYong Motors Malta Ltd director Hermann Mallia and general manager Joanne Bartolo Chircop, were in attendance. Personally invited by Johng-Sik Choi, president and CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, and Pawan Kumar Goenka, managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the Maltese representatives witnessed first hand the excitement generated during the unveiling of the new vehicle.

Scheduled for release in Malta between June and July, the Korando will guarantee drivers an outstanding, resilient and able SUV, geared up with all the latest high-tech gadgets and fitted with a pleasingly luxurious interior.
