St Dominic’s, St Paul’s in joint celebration on feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus

Feast is a prominent Catholic devotion symbolising Christ’s boundless love for humanity

The solemnity of the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be celebrated at St Dominic parish church on Friday. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 5pm, followed by Holy Eucharist benediction. A sung mass with homily by parish priest Michael Camilleri, OP, will be held at 6.15pm.

The Dominican community will later gather on the church parvis to welcome a procession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which will start from St Paul Shipwrecked parish church after the 6pm mass.

On arrival at St Dominic’s, Holy Eucharist prayers and hymns will be recited, followed by Eucharistic benediction. The procession will then continue to St Paul Shipwrecked church.

The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a prominent Catholic devotion symbolising Christ’s boundless, passionate love and mercy for humanity. Centred on Jesus’s physical heart as a representation of his divine-human love, it is celebrated annually on the Friday after the second Sunday of Pentecost.
