A large crowd gathered at the Our Lady of Loreto Square in Ghajnsielem to welcome the casket with the relics of St Therese on Monday.
Archpriest Joseph Zerafa, Bishop Nikol Cauchi and Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono addressed the crowd gathered, which included the Speaker of the House, Anton Tabone, Frederick Azzopardi, MP, and Ghajnsielem mayor Francis Cauchi. The casket was later taken to Ta' Pinu Sanctuary where a prayer vigil was held.
Mass for the sick and the elderly was said at the sanctuary the next day, followed by a pontifical concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Cauchi in the evening.
Wherever the casket was taken, including the General Hospital, it was greeted by large crowds. The relics left Gozo on Thursday in a car cade from Xaghra Basilica to Mgarr Harbour and on to the MV Gozo Princess.
