The owner of a stall at the Cospicua open market was conditionally discharged today after admitting he punched an official of the Consumer and Competition Division.
The incident developed earlier today after the stall owner, Elton Briffa, 20, was found not to be displaying the prices of the items for sale.
He admitted punching the official and assaulting and threatening two market surveillance officers of the Consumer and Competition Division.
The Finance Ministry in a statement condemned the incident and what it said was a subsequent incident where the Assistant-Director of the division was insulted over the phone because the division was doing its duty.
The ministry expressed its solidarity with the employees.
