I refer to the letter by Anthony Charles, of Marsascala (May 16) in reply to my invitation to philatelists and the public to submit ideas for stamp issue subjects - naturally, for eventual consideration by the Stamp Design Advisory Board.
Nowhere in my letter did I state that all suggestions would be accepted, this being a physical impossibility. Being myself a member of the Stamp Design Advisory Board, I can confirm that the board gives due consideration to all suggestions for forthcoming stamp issues before making the final choice, which is based on a number of factors.
As to Dr Charles' comment about the 7c stamp showing kusksu bil-ful (a traditional Maltese dish) being the last straw, that is a matter of opinion. I will merely point out that this set is still in demand by philatelists and thematic collectors, nine months after it was issued in August last year.
