A stamp exhibition, The Maltese Stamp As A Work of Art, has been launched at the National Museum of Fine Arts, in Valletta as part of the official activities being held to mark Malta's accession to the EU.

The exhibition features the original art designs, submitted to Maltapost by some of Malta's leading artists, which were eventually used for stamp issues.

Speaking at the inauguration of the exhibition yesterday, Competitiveness and Communications Minister Censu Galea said it was the first time the original designs were being mounted at an exhibition in a national museum.

Through the exhibition, enthusiasts have the opportunity to admire the great works of leading Maltese artists, such as Emvin Cremona, Frank Portelli, Luciano Micallef, Noel Galea Bason, Salvu Mallia, George Fenech, Richard England and Antoine Camilleri.
