\nBright sunshine brought a surprisingly warm January day for this game. But there were no surprises on the pitch as Stompers showed they were on top form.
L. Mifsud scored the first try for Stompers, with B. Nicolic getting the second. P. Satariano put Stompers into a good lead with their third try, which he converted.
Stompers continued finding holes in the Alligators defence with J. Zammit and M. Mirabelli both scoring tries that gave the side a commanding position. Satariano found his form and converted both tries.
Tight play and strong drives were the Stompers' buzz words as they kept pushing Alligators backwards.
A yellow card for M. Farrugia, of Alligators, compounded the underdogs' problems and Stompers gave them no respite. M. Fountain and Nicolic both scored other tries before the half-time whistle.
The second half saw a more determined Alligators drive that resulted in a B. Sammut try. But continued pressure from Stompers saw L. Wynne, J. Reljic and P. Satariano further widening the gap.
Even with victory secured Stompers retained their aggressive stance with a try from J. Zammit, two others from L. Mifsud and a final one from A. Camilleri, who converted his own try.

Play see-sawed across the pitch as both teams sought scoring opportunities that failed to materialise. The rucks and mauls did not produce a break and defensive kicking seemed to be the order of the day.
A penalty kick by Kavallieri's R. Attard finally opened the scoring, but neither team could find a window of opportunity that would let them score a badly needed try.
Overseas, bolstered by the return of J. Williams after a two-year stint in the UK, seemed unable to find the finishing necessary to drive over the Kavallieri line, and were once again plagued by minor mishaps that cost them scoring opportunities.
The half-time whistle blew with only Kavallieri's three points on the scoreboard.
Kavallieri had gained an edge in the first half and came out in the second determined to exploit it. Tries by K. Psaila and D. Borg gave them a healthy lead, both being converted by Attard.
Kavallieri piled up the pressure as their strong team spirit shone through with P. Azzopardi and I. Borda both scoring tries.
Overseas fought back with a try from M. Johnson but it was too little too late.
G. Attard and Psaila responded with tries for Kavallieri, both of which were converted by R. Attard, securing the victory.
No doubt, there will be some soul-searching in the Overseas camp as they struggle to leave their mark in the MRFU Cup.
