I refer to a letter you published last Sunday, entitled "Automatic promotion of students at MCAST".
The college wishes to inform you that from our investigations, the alleged author, Mr C. Degiorgio from Tarxien, has no son attending MCAST nor did he ever write to your paper in the context of this college.
MCAST is open to discussion with anyone who has the honesty to reveal his or her true identity and not abuse of other people's names and contact numbers to attack the college unnecessarily.
The issues mentioned in the letter can be discussed with the director of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute at any time.
Editor's note
The routine acknowledgement note posted to the author of the letter did not reach the alleged writer in time, so The Sunday Times could not know that he had not, in fact, sent the letter. The inclusion of a telephone number with the letter was obviously intended to allay suspicions that the letter was not authentic.
However, we regret the inconvenience caused and join Ms Cassar in condemning those who shamelessly abuse of other people's names and contact numbers. Any confidential information sent to The Sunday Times remains confidential.
