Maria Chetcuti, a fourth-year student in food preparation and production at the Institute for Tourism Studies, presented Lm1,200 on behalf of fellow students to Mgr Lawrence Gatt (picture), director of Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi.

The money was raised during a charity campaign which started a month ago. During their free time, students, guided by their lecturers, prepared Christmas delicacies consisting of fruit cakes decorated with icing or chocolate, almond cakes, Dundee cakes, Christmas logs and mince pies, which were given out in return for donations.
