At the first plenary session of the 20th Mini European Assembly, the 14 participating teams from various post-secondary schools and the University discussed the topic 'Financial Crisis - National Intervention vs European Collective Action?'.
Yanica Sant from the team representing Montenegro, presented a report on the topic analysing the origin of the crisis and how it was affecting the 14 different European countries represented in this year's assembly. The report also considered the issue of collective action and the future prospects.
Abigail Attard and Abigail Cremona, from the team representing the Czech Republic, presented a resolution calling for action to restore public confidence, proper management of the crisis and the use of education as an important financial tool.
The session, held at the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), Mrieħel, was chaired by MFSA chairman Joseph V. Bannister, and addressed by Central Bank governor Michael C. Bonello.
The assembly, organised by the NSTF, is an educational activity aimed at strengthening students' knowledge on European affairs and other soft skills such as communication, discussion and public speaking.
