An activity entitled ‘Experience Everest’ was organised recently at St Margaret College Boys Secondary, Verdala, by the Curriculum Management and e-Learning Department of the Education Directorate, and the Geography Teachers Association (GTA).

During the activity, geography students from 10 state secondary schools, a Church school and a private school were addressed by Marco Cremona, one of the first three Maltese who climbed Mount Everest last May.

Other speakers included geography education officer Edward Gilson and GTA president Joseph Mangani.

Mr Cremona talked about about the journey of the Challenge 8,000 team he formed part of. He discussed the preparations undertaken, the training, and the obstacles they met on the mountain.

The activity coincided with the GTA’s 10th anniversary.
