The KSU, the university's students' council, said it was prepared to help in logistical matters related to the graduation ceremony in November.
Following the lifting of a Lm10 graduation fee imposed on graduating students, the students' council told the rector in a letter "it will help raise funding with the aim of making the ceremonies self-sufficient or profitable".
"The KSU has repeatedly stated its belief that the university's funding needs to be increased, both through additional government support as well as through generation of revenue from other sources."
In its letter, the KSU reiterated its support for "the full autonomy of the university in all academic matters".
The Studenti Demokristjani Maltin (SDM) praised the KSU for offering to help the university administration in the organisation of graduation ceremonies.
The SDM said it agreed with the KSU that there were other ways of raising funds for the ceremonies, which could allow them to become self-sufficient or even profit-making without imposing any burden on students.
