Ajax skipper Luis Suarez’s neck-biting attack on a PSV player has cost him dear with the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) banning the Uruguay international for seven domestic games yesterday.
The suspension means Suarez will be sidelined until February 4.
The KNVB’s punishment will run concurrently with the two-match ban already handed out to Suarez by his club which also levelled a “heavy fine” on the forward.
The 23-year-old saw red in Saturday’s league tie when he bit the neck of PSV’s Otman Bakkal.
The two players had argued with Suarez taking direct action after Bakkal had stood on his foot following a red card received by Ajax’s Rasmus Lindgren.
