The Helping Hands Group, a group of lecturers and students from the Sir Mikelang Refalo Sixth Form, Victoria, last week staged Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat at Don Bosco Oratory.
This musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice was under the musical direction of Mro Joseph Grech and the artistic direction of Paul Stellini. Margaret Camilleri directed the choreography and Mary Jane Camilleri was the producer.
Four performances were staged, two for Gozitan schools and two for the public. The cast included Lawrence Gray as Joseph, Pamela Bezzina, Teddie Zammit, Ludwig Galea, Mark Xerri, Salvinu Cremona, James Borg, and a large children's choir.
Lawrence Gray gave a very strong performance, as did Pamela Bezzina. It would not be possible to mention everyone, but one has to congratulate Mro Joseph Grech, who faced the delicate task of handling a large cast and an orchestra made up of young people.
The production was the result of strong teamwork, an effort which paid off. The team treated the audience to an enjoyable spectacle of singing and dancing. This performance augurs well for the Helping Hands Group's future.
The group donated all proceeds to the Eden Foundation in Gozo, Dar Guzeppa Debono, Ghajnsielem, and the Gozo branch of the Red Cross.
