Dogs and cats being kicked out in the streets to fend for themselves are on the increase.

Various reasons are given to justify these actions namely: health, the owners died due to old age or went abroad, others moved house and their pets had to be left behind etc. To make matters worse the homes catering for these animals are not accepting any more for the simple reason that they are all full up.

Without going into the discussion of the resulting traumas and shocks these poor animals have to undergo when finding themselves all alone, hungry and homeless, I make an urgent appeal to the government and to all those who have at heart these animals that to minimise the problem assistance be given to owners to have their pets neutered. By assistance I mean financial and/or medical (opening of clinics) or advice to those who are at a loss of how to go about it.

If need be it should be reinforced by law. I think this is a solution by which we can enjoy the company of our pets and at the same time eradicate the sufferings of so many strays.
