The second serving of Sunday Circle by the newly-appointed executive editor Iggy Fenech is out on Sunday as a printed magazine with The Sunday Times of Malta and as a free, interactive digital magazine on www.tom-mag.com. This issue takes nature as its main inspiration.

The digital cover features Jason Grech, the Melbourne-based designer whose family hails from Birkirkara.

Speaking to the magazine from the headquarters of Għaqda Mużikali Santa Liena (il-każin tal-Bagri), where his grandfather was bandmaster for many years, Mr Grech tells Anna Marie Galea how coming here on holiday a few years ago inspired him to enrol into a fashion design course and how it continues to mould and shape his identity and his aesthetic.

On the print cover, the chairman of Identity Malta, Notary Ian Castaldi Paris, talks about family life, his work commitments and his love for the outdoors.

Of course, that is just the tip of the metaphorical iceberg!

The September issue sees photojournalist Joanna Demarco spend a morning at a 29-acre farm in Attard, which might soon be lost due to the Central Link Project.

The poignant six-page photo-story shows the graft that goes into producing fruit and vegetables for our table, and perfectly depicts the connection farmers feel to their land.

Nature continues to star, inspire and determine outcomes in many of this edition’s other features, too.

The fashion editorial, starring model Victoria Rotchenkova, photographed by Marie Claire Portelli, turns prickly pears and metal bathtubs into high-fashion props, while the sea sets the stage for Pippa Mattei’s spread of recipes and the work Maltese researchers are doing to get satellites to forecast changes in coastal waters.

Many of these articles have also been extended or have extra features (including a behind-the-scenes video for the Jason Grech and Ian Castaldi Paris articles) in the digital edition, which, this month, is also giving readers the chance to win a Kiehl’s gift pack containing four amazing face products.

To take part in the competition, simply download the TOM Mag app via the App Store, Google Play or by visiting www.tommag.com, and find the respective page in the September 2019 digital edition of Sunday Circle.

Sunday Circle is published by Allied Newspapers Ltd.
