SENGLEA ATHLETIC 4
Caseres 13, Gonzalez 71, Garcia 81, Romulo 86
QORMI 0
Having been doomed to relegation, both Senglea and Qormi had their sights set on collecting the spoils from yesterday’s clash.
Senglea, running into an effective gear, managed a morale-boosting win which has increased their points’ kitty to seven in view of the impending battles ahead.
Twelve minutes into the game, Francisco Venancio’s cross landed at the feet of Imanol Benac who first-time attempt went high over the bar.
The Athletic persisted with their brisk approach when Leighton Grech’s flicked cross from the right flank sailed towards Augusto Caseres who nodded past Jamie Azzopardi.
After the change of ends, Imanol Gonzalez doubled Senglea’s advantage in style, connecting to a pin-pointed cross from Venancio to flick a header into the net past the stranded Azzopardi.
Nine minutes from time, Senglea were three goals up, this time, the effervescent Matias Garcia beat the helpless Azzopardi with an angled shot.
Not surprisingly, the Yellow-Reds struck again, Romulo evaded the attentions of the Qormi defenders to hit the ball past Azzopardi.
