A Birzebbuga man of Libyan origin was yesterday given a two-year jail term suspended for four years after he admitted to breaking into a Birkirkara house.

Mansur Hamid, 29, admitted to stealing several objects, including furniture and a shotgun, from the house on February 3.

In a separate arraignment, Philip Azzopardi, 61, of St Paul's Bay pleaded not guilty to complicity in the burglary and was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000.

Police Inspectors Silvio Valletta and Therese Sciberras prosecuted.

Dr Leo Bencini appeared for Hamid and Dr Giannella Caruana Curran appeared for Azzopardi.
