A 20-year-old man from Birkirkara was yesterday accused of theft.

Marlon Camilleri was charged with having stolen a van, money, a set of speakers and food from a number of individuals and from Smart Supermarket and Save and Smile Supermarket. He was also charged with receiving stolen goods and with damaging third party property.

Camilleri was further charged with making use of false number plates and with fraud and with driving a vehicle without insurance cover.

Following Camilleri's admission he was sentenced to two years imprisonment by Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, which prison sentence was suspended for four years.

He was also fined Lm250.
