Two swimmers rescued in separate incidents

Two swimmers were rescued from rough seas in separate incidents on Wednesday afternoon.

The AFM said it deployed a helicopter to hoist a swimmer who encountered difficulties at  St Peter’s Pool near Delimara. The swimmer was taken to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Civil Protection Department said it was alerted to an individual who fell into the sea and was unable to return to shore in the area beneath Fort St. Elmo, Valletta.

The individual was safely recovered using a CPD RHIB and hospitalised. 

No further details were issued.
