As a regular, summer and winter, swimmer in St Paul's Bay I wish to publicly protest against the way Minister Censu Galea has succumbed to the pressure of the moneyed yacht owning and lobbying suitor, without first deigning to consult the community of families of swimmers, shore fisherman and even the sport club in this area about his intentions.

The way ministerial and kowtowing press and media announcing of this impending yacht marina in Xemxija has been made, beautifully timed for end of summer, is a clear indication that consultation was the last thing on the authorities' mind.

The principle - as was the case of all yacht and boat marinas created so far in Malta and Gozo - remains the same, "where yachts are more in, swimmers are more out". Once again, in democratic Malta, ministerial diktat shows it can ride roughshod over humble families' wishes.
