Swimming ban beneath Qawra coast road lifted

Repeated sampling shows the seawater to be safe following a recent sewage spill

The Environmental Health Directorate has lifted a warning it issued last month against swimming in an area of St Paul's Bay beneath the Qawra coast road.

In a statement on Monday, the Environmental Health Directorate said repeated sampling of seawater lifted from the area confirmed it was now safe for bathing.

The area was closed off on August 21, when foul water "originating from above the rocks" was found in the area.

For more information, the public may contact the Environmental Health Directorate on 2133 7333 during office hours (8am to 2.30pm) or email wrau.ehd@gov.mt.
