Scores of individuals yesterday took a dip to raise funds for the Razzett tal-Hbiberija's multi-sensory project as a four-day swimming marathon kicked off.
The marathon at Razzett's indoor heated pool in Marsascala will try to entice donations from the public in aid of the long-awaited project.
During the fund-raising activity, teams from various companies, sports clubs and organisations are swimming laps against a sponsorship collected beforehand by team members. In all, some 100 individuals are expected to take part.
Works on the project start in earnest on Monday and are expected to take some three months, according to Razzett administrator Mark Sultana.
A total of Lm100,000 would be invested this year in the new project which will provide multi-sensory therapy for an array of conditions.
The project will help disabled persons interact further into society by stimulating and enhancing their senses.
With over Lm150,000 in annual running costs, the Razzett tal-Hbiberija relies on the generosity of the public and the support of corporate companies.
It provides services to the disabled community free of charge. and offers its specialised services to over 40 schools and 15 organisations.
Vodafone customers can make donations via SMS to the following numbers - 617513 for a Lm1 donation, 618021 for a Lm2 donation, and 618844 for a Lm3 donation.
Anybody wishing to help Razzett may do so by sending a cheque to its premises at Zinzell Street, Marsascala ZBR 11.
