I wish to bring to the attention of the youth and education authorities that on July 6, in the afternoon, my six-year-old grandson was swimming in the smaller pool at Tal-Qroqq when he seriously injured his knee, hitting broken tiles near the edge below the water level.
He was rushed to the Gzira polyclinic where a profusely bleeding wound required stitches. This accident shows serious lack of proper and regular pool maintenance and in this case a management failure to warn families and children of broken tiles in the pool, an area which should have been put temporarily out of bounds. Are standards of safety and hygiene being observed by the management who should be accountable for such negligence?
I suggest that the health and safety authorities should investigate this case and consider what disciplinary action should be taken against the pool's management.
