Two Syrians who arrived in Malta on a flight from Istanbul on March 17 broke away from the passengers walking to the air terminal, jumped over the airport fence and escaped, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday. The Syrians had been on transit to Libya. They were not known to have been in Malta before.

Police investigations are continuing, the minister told Carmelo Abela (MLP).
