I wish to draw the attention of Charlene Giordimaina (Catholic Reply to The Possibility Of Divorce, March 18) that Malta is a lay country on its way to further secularisation. Moreover, there is a difference between civil and Catholic marriage. It is not Canon law that is being altered but the Civil Code. Abiding by the notion of the separation of the Church and state means not confusing the two. The responsible question fits the responsible Bill. The question is not biased nor misleading. Let us not allow the 1995 Church-state concordat to blind us to the human empathy we have to show to suffering couples.
