All practising librarians, authors writing for young persons, and the interested public are invited to a talk on "Libraries and Young Adult Literature" by an authority in the field. Professor William Buchanan will be discussing the topic on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Francis Ebejer Hall (LT 2) on the University Campus. There will be time for discussion.
Professor Buchanan is Associate Professor in the Department of Library Science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. His teaching specialties include bibliography of the humanities, bibliography of the social sciences and government documents. He has worked as journalist, public relations officer, public librarian and academic librarian.
Professor Buchanan was visiting lecturer in library automation studies during the 1996-1998 Diploma in Library and Information Studies course.
He has been invited by the University's Division of Library and Information Studies to give this extracurricular lecture during his sabbatical, part of which he is spending in Malta. During this time he is working on a book regarding the experiences of Maltese children during the war.
