The Malta Cancer Foundation is to hold Luis y Miguel, a fund-raising concert of Argentinian tango music and dance at the Manoel Theatre on October 31, and November 1 and 2, under the patronage of President Guido de Marco.
Renowned Argentinian pianist Natalio (Luis) Mangalavite, together with Michele (Miguel) Ascolese on guitar, will be accompanied by the Tangeros Double A dancers.
Tango, candombe, milomba and many others are among the rhythms that Luis y Miguel will be performing.
Mr Mangalavite has participated in various television shows (Domenica In and Sanremo among others), and last year was maestro in the programme Operazione Trionfo. He has also released three CDs.
The foundation, headed by Dr Herbert Sultana of the Oncology Department, was set up four years ago in order to improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer. Luis y Miguel is the foundation's first major fund-raising project.
All proceeds will be going to the radiotherapy department at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, which is in the process of introducing new technology and techniques of treatment to improve results and eliminate side-effects.
The main sponsors of the concert are Simonds Farsons Cisk, Air Malta, Vodafone, Island Hotels Group, V J Salamone, Alf Mizzi & Sons, Miller Publications, Salv Grima Group Ltd, and John's Garage.
Tickets at Lm6, Lm8 and Lm10 are available from the Manoel Theatre booking office, tel. 2124 6389, email: bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt
