Tarxien Day is being celebrated today. Mass will be held at the parish church of the Annunciation at 9 a.m. It will be followed by a cortege to the war monument, where flowers will be laid to honour Tarxien residents who died through enemy action in World War Two.

The cortege will then proceed to the government health centre in Triq Santa Marija where the mayor, Paul Farrugia, will deliver an address. Afterwards a football match will be played by teams representing the two main political parties.

A variety evening will be held near Joanne Gardens starting at 7.30 p.m. All Tarxien residents are invited to take part.
