Government revenue from income tax in Gozo declined to €23.2 million in 2008 from €27 million the year before but it was still more than twice that of the year 2000.

The information, given in Parliament by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech, shows that the drop between 2008 and 2007 was the first at least since 2000, when revenue was just €10.6 million.

The figures for 2009 are still being compiled.

VAT revenue from Gozo totalled €10.9 million in 2009 from €11.6 million in 2008 and just €3.9 million in the year 2000.
