The Maltese-Italian Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Società Dante Alighieri in Rome recently organised a five-day full immersion course in commercial Italian as part of the Chamber's programme of activities for the current year.
The course was tailored to fulfil the requirements of a number of Italian language teachers who wish to specialise in this area of language skills. The course was conducted by Dr Chiara Ghezzi from the Department of Linguistics of the University of Bergamo.
The course was co-ordinated by Martin Micallef, director-general of the Maltese-Italian Chamber and secretary of the local Società Dante Alighieri and Mario Pace, director of studies of the Società Dante Alighieri.
The Maltese-Italian Chamber and the Malta committee of the Società Dante Alighieri offered the course free of charge to around 20 teachers from public and private schools. The Maltese teachers expressed their satisfaction and augured that more courses, covering other areas of interest, are organised in the future.
Meanwhile the MICC and the Dante are planning a number of courses in commercial Italian which will be of particular interest to secretaries, accountants, auditors, bank employees, lawyers' offices, international marketing offices and all those who wish to polish their Italian and specialise in this particular sector.
